The deployment, delivered in collaboration with Infinera partner BlueAlly, leveraged a fully ROADM-powered DWDM optical layer and a combination of 200-Gbps Layer 1 and 2 traffic management platforms.

Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN) says it has assisted Central Electric Power Cooperative (CEPC) in the deployment of Infinera’s XTM Series as part of a rural broadband network upgrade in Missouri. The deployment, delivered in collaboration with Infinera partner BlueAlly, leveraged a fully ROADM-powered DWDM optical layer and a combination of 200-Gbps Layer 1 and 2 traffic management platforms.

Electric co-op CEPC not only supplies power for eight distribution cooperatives but operates an extensive rural optical network as well. The fiber infrastructure supports critical telecommunications as well as middle-mile connectivity for rural broadband.

“To meet our communities’ growing demand for cost-effective broadband connectively, we knew we needed to upgrade and modernize our network infrastructure,” explained Scott Duncan, vice president of telecommunications services at CEPC. “With industry-leading capabilities in areas such as density, low power consumption, and configuration flexibility, the Infinera XTM solution proved to be a perfect fit for our needs.”
