TDS Telecommunications LLC says that it has launched several fiber to the home (FTTH) deployment projects in Maine. The fiber broadband service provider adds that it will boost the transmission rate of its top service tier in the state to 8 Gbps.

The company says it has started FTTH deployments in Franklin and Somerset counties, including Weld, Carrabassett, Stratton, Mercer, Norridgewock, Kingsfield, New Portland, New Vineyard, North Anson, Phillips, Salem, and Strong. The work will see FTTH infrastructure pass more than 7400 homes and businesses. These deployments complement already initiated builds in Harmony, West Ripley, Solon, Embden, Athens, and Warren.
