October 2, 2002--Hubbell Premise Wiring has announced a new line of singlemode 2Quick SC and ST crimp-style fiber-optic connectors. The same unique patented crimp connector technology that has been used for multimode fiber is now available for singlemode fiber.

The 2Quick singlemode connectors reduce termination time while assembling more quickly, easily, and reliably onto the fiber, say company representatives. All of Hubbell's new singlemode and multimode 2Quick connectors now have the red polymer crimp tube self-contained inside the metal crimp insert. This eliminates the step of threading the crimp tube onto the fiber. In addition, the removal of the cable jacket crimp sleeve means that only two crimping steps are required instead of three. Both of these improvements add up to significant assembly time savings for the installer. The 2Quick connectors can be installed with or without adhesives.

ETL audited Hubbell's testing of the 2Quick connector, which was qualified to meet or exceed TIA/EIA-586-B.3 requirements.
