TransOptiX unveils UC2 series of optical switches

February 2, 2005 Irvine, CA -- TransOptiX has announced the official release of its new UC2 1xN optical switch product series, including the standard 1x4, 1x8 and 1x16 models. All are fully Telcordia qualified (GR-1073).

According to TransOptiX representatives, the UC2 optical switches support the most diverse set of applications in the industry. The devices operate in either multimode or singlemode, for example, and provide the option to incorporate either customizable integrated control protocols or to allow for direct connection to all channels. They operate in either latching or non-latching mode and provide what the company claims is the widest working spectral range capability (850 nm, 1280 nm - 1340 nm, and 1520 nm - 1625 nm) in the industry.

The UC2 products feature low insertion loss (0.8 dB for 1x4, 1.0 dB for 1x8, and 1.2 dB for 1x16), low polarization dependent loss (less than 0.05 dB for all models), and excellent return loss and crosstalk (>65 dB and <-65 dB, respectively).

The UC2 1xN series optical switch is also versatile in its application. They are suited for use in multiple industries, including telecommunications, sensor/monitoring, automation and government/aerospace. The design architecture is also ideal for unique customizations, which are available upon request.
