Sleek, handheld mini-OTDR tests 4 wavelengths

March 31, 2005 Oriskany, NY -- From FIS, the Certification Mini-OTDR features a sleek, handheld design. The device measures 7.1" x 4.6" x 3", and tests at four wavelengths: 850, 1300, 1490, and 1550 nm. The company calls the unit ideal for repair and maintenance applications, as well as new installations.

Used with the company's Certification software, the unit enables users to document and certify networks. According to the company, in addition to testing and analyzing fiber-optic systems, the unit is also suitable for optimizing quick-connect connectors and mechanical splices.
