June 20, 2006 Glendale, CA -- With the release of its Kleenspex cleaning tool, Equilent Inc. says it has made cleaning of multi-pin fiber-optic connectors simple, quick, and efficient.

A process that would normally have taken 3 to 20 minutes can now be done in just a few seconds using the new tool, according to the company. The tool obviates the need to disassemble and reassemble mission-critical connector components for cleaning purposes.

The tool is based on specially formulated and disposable pads which clean all ferrules inside the connector shell by one push/pull, after which the pad can be discarded and a new one applied, ready for the next cleaning job.

Equilent says that tests have proven that the Kleenspex product has significant cleaning performance superiority over any other fiber-optic connector cleaning product currently on the market.

The tool supports most popular multi-pin fiber optic connectors currently deployed in harsh environment applications, such as the 38999, 28876, expanded beam connectors, etc. The company offers custom sizes and models upon request.
