JUNE 22, 2009 -- US Conec Ltd. (search Lightwave for US Conec) announces the immediate availability of reduced-footprint MTP brand adapters. This streamlined MTP brand adapter platform has the same panel cutout dimensions as that of SC and duplex LC connectors. The condensed cross-sectional area of the adapters is designed to simplify the transition from simplex or duplex connectivity to higher-density MTP brand connectivity. Panel cutouts per TIA/EIA 604-10A, M-3, and M-4 are compatible with the multifiber connector adapters, which can support up to 72 fibers per TIA 604-5D.

The new SC-footprint adapters are supplied with a dust plug produced from a custom-formulated engineering thermoplastic resin. The plug protects the MTP connector mounted internal to the bulkhead. The material is V0 rated, RoHS and REACH compliant, static dissipative, and has a TML outgassing spec of less than 1% per ASTM E595, eliminating potential deposits onto sensitive optics, which can impede signal integrity.
