Fujikura to unveil optical fiber identifiers at ECOC

SEPTEMBER 3, 2009 -- Fujikura believes the FID-25R and FID-26R are the most highly developed optical fiber identifiers yet to be offered to the market.

SEPTEMBER 3, 2009 -- Fujikura Europe Ltd. plans to launch two new optical fiber identifiers at ECOC in Vienna later this month (stand 417). Fujikura believes the FID-25R and FID-26R are the most highly developed optical fiber identifiers yet to be offered to the market. Their high sensitivity enables signal identification using G.657 bend-insensitive fibers and they can isolate a weak tone signal under a strong traffic signal, the company asserts.

“The new identifiers represent an important new offering from Fujikura and we are expecting a lot of interest at ECOC,” said Fujikura Europe’s Sales and Marketing Manager Brian Leonard.

Other features of the new products include:

  • Single detector head for 0.25-mm to 3.0-mm coated fibers
  • Optical power meter range of +10 to -60 dBm featured on FID-25R
  • 15 user-selectable test modes for a variety of field applications
  • New fiber clamping head design, requiring very short excess testing length of the optical fiber

The FID-25R and FID-26R have been designed to give easy access to the target fiber in confined spaces and offer simple and automatic operation, achievable by just clamping the fiber. The design has also focused on making the LCD screen and LED illuminations easy to read in all conditions, from dimly lit interiors to bright sunlight.
