MetroCast chooses Motorola's RF over glass for FTTH

OCTOBER 26, 2009 -- Motorola Inc. has announced the first major deployment of its RF over glass (RFoG) gear with regional cable operator MetroCast Communications. MetroCast will deploy the Motorola RFoG equipment at “select” Virginia properties in specific rebuild areas to upgrade existing coaxial networks to fiber-to-the-home (FTTH). The RFoG FTTH upgrade will increase bandwidth capacity for new digital and high-definition television (HDTV) channels as well as video on demand (VoD) services, voice services, and tiered broadband services.
