JANUARY 12, 2010 – Calix says it has received Rural Development Telecommunications acceptance from the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) division of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the recently announced E7 Ethernet Service Access Platform (ESAP; see "Calix unveils E7 Ethernet Service Access Platform for native Ethernet access applications"). The RUS listing enables CSPs to access RUS loans funded to promote the deployment of broadband services throughout the United States, with a special emphasis on rural development.

The E7, which is now generally available, is a designed to be a highly extensible, standards-based Ethernet service access platform that offers CSPs a modular chassis-based option to address the emerging bandwidth challenges of an increasingly all-video world.

With the E7 achieving formal acceptance from the RUS, the entire Calix Unified Access portfolio across the C- and E-Series access platforms and the P-Series optical network terminals is now RUS accepted, Calix says.
