NOVEMBER 2, 2010 -- EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF) has launched the BV-10 Ethernet/IP Performance Endpoint (PEP) Unit. The BV10 is designed to be a cost-effective and comprehensive dedicated performance demarcation device that streamlines testing and service assurance throughout Carrier Ethernet networks, especially mobile backhaul deployments, at a fraction of the cost of a traditional network interface device (NID).

One of the key challenges in monitoring network performance and carrying out the required troubleshooting is having full visibility across the entire network, says EXFO. In this context, EXFO has designed the BV-10 series to be low-cost, easy-to-configure, and intelligent. The dedicated performance demarcation device for Layers 2 and 3 is compliant with MEF and IETF standards.

The BV-10 also is designed to be deployed across the entire network without having to interrupt services. With a very low deployment cost and highly intuitive testing processes, the BV-10 can quickly be installed at any number of sites to enhance performance visibility while reducing costly human intervention, EXFO asserts.

“The complexity and size of today’s Ethernet-based networks demand smarter and more efficient solutions for deploying, testing, and monitoring throughout the full network lifecycle in order to truly minimize costs and optimize performance,” said Étienne Gagnon, EXFO's vice-president—Wireline Division and corporate marketing. “The BV-10 series further illustrates our commitment to delivering powerful, intelligent solutions that address testing realities while respecting operational budget considerations. Offering simple and intuitive monitoring and troubleshooting processes in a low-cost standards-based unit, the BV-10 provides our customers with the visibility and real-time knowledge critical to operating profitable Ethernet services in today’s competitive marketplace.”
