Sunrise Telecom intros mobile backhaul verification modules to RxT

Sunrise Telecom Inc. (OTC:SRTI) has unveiled four modules for its RxT test platform for use in mobile backhaul installation and service activation applications.

The modules include the RxT-2270 E1, RXT2380 SONET/SDH, RXT2500 Dual 1-Gigabit Ethernet, and RXT5000 10-Gigabit Ethernet modules. They are the first additions to the RxT module line since Sunrise Telecom introduced the platform last March (see “Sunrise Telecom unveils RxT platform to increase productivity”). The portable RxT is designed to deliver connectivity in the field. Integrated with Sunrise Telecom’s realGATE workflow optimization system, the RxT enables field technicians to e-mail and upload results, access the Web, and transfer files with its Wi-Fi connection, eliminating the need to carry a laptop.

With the new modules, the RxT can provide network verification capabilities for legacy TDM E1/T1, and SONET/SDH interfaces used in second and third generation (2G and 3G) mobile networks. The RxT also supports ITU-T Y.1564 Carrier Ethernet service activation test via the company’s proprietary IntelliSAM suite. It currently does not support IEEE 1588v2 timing performance, but this feature is expected to be added in a future release, Sunrise Telecom sources told Lightwave.

“The first of its kind, the RxT’s mobile backhaul verification capability increases productivity by allowing technicians to seamlessly keep pace with next-generation backhaul systems and successfully manage the transition from E1/T1 and SONET/SDH to Ethernet,” said Bahaa Moukadam, Sunrise Telecom’s CEO. “Technicians need end-to-end visibility in the network to quickly identify problems, decrease mean time to repair, and avoid service level agreement penalties.”
