JDSU doubles 10G port count on test module

JDSU (NASDAQ: JDSU) (TSX: JDU) has released a two-port version of the 10-Gbps Multi-Services Application Module (MSAM) for its T-BERD/MTS-6000A and -8000 fiber-optic test platforms. The module is engineered to enable technicians to turn up or troubleshoot two circuits simultaneously.

In addition to doubling circuit capacity, the new MSAM offers bidirectional monitoring of 10-Gigabit Ethernet links, including line-rate capture, WireShark decode, and J-Mentor analysis. It also can monitor and generate traffic in Optical Transport Network (OTN)-wrapped ODU-0 payloads for Gigabit Ethernet applications. It can be used for TDM/PDH and 10-Gbps OTN verification as well.

In addition to service provider field applications, the system also can be used in data center and storage area network (SAN) applications, including 8G Fibre Channel networks.

The MSAM supports JDSU’s proprietary TrueSpeed automated test regime for IETF RFC 6349.
