This optical fiber network connects to all hostels, enables WiFi hot spot connectivity, will be used to video stream courseware to students, and provides coverage to 30,000 people.”

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to expand our GPON network solution on the IIT Kharagpur campus” commented Dr. Bharat P. Dave, Alphion chairman, president, and CEO. “The initial pilot program, deployed in 2009, demonstrated the capability of our GPON technology to deliver world-class network services. This new campus-wide deployment will extend the network to cover existing and new housing, classrooms, office space, and open areas.”
