S.I. Net, a Cambodian provider of high-speed Internet, fiber, and hosting services, will use BTI Systems’ WideCast offering to cache video, applications, and other content for delivery on its network. The use of WideCast will improve quality of experience and reduce IP transit costs, BTI Systems asserts.

"Investing in our broadband network is a key element in our ability to respond to the changing needs of our customers," said Meta Sy, general manager of S.I. Net. "BTI Systems gives us the right synergy - the technology to deliver new, feature-rich content while we reduce our costs for operations, administration, and maintenance."

BTI Systems says that WideCast will enable S.I. Net to cache all types of content, including video, software updates, peer-to-peer traffic, and Web-based file sharing. This reduces the distance content has to travel to reach customers, lowering latency and improving customer experience. WideCast is currently caching an average of 35% of IP traffic, BTI Systems says.

S.I. Net has implemented WideCast alongside the BTI Systems 7000 Series packet-optical transport platform and integrated packetVX Ethernet services modules to distribute the cached content. The 7000 Series also will enable S.I. Net to deliver Ethernet-based services and expand its 10-Gigabit Ethernet metro network in the capital city of Phnom Penh.
