IP fiber network spurs fourth quarter revenue for Allstream

January 29, 2012

MTS Allstream of Canada is touting the success of its IP fiber-optic network expansion. The service provider says it signed 46 new customers for IP-based services in the fourth quarter of 2011 alone.

"Our sales progress speaks to the continued popularity of IP-based services in the business telecommunications market in Canada," said Dean Prevost, president of Allstream. "We look forward to transitioning into the new year with the same momentum."

The success reflects the success of Allstream’s fiber network rollout strategy. The company connected 299 buildings with fiber in 2011, including 75 in the fourth quarter. Allstream now reaches 2,388 buildings with fiber as of December 31, 2011. Its IP fiber network stretches 30,000 km.

New customers in the fourth quarter of 2011 include Ad knowledge, Caltech Surveys, TEOPS Canada Corporation, dys architecture, Trispec Communications, Heathbridge Capital Management, Vivonet Canada, IBI Group, Voyer Marketing & Associés and World Trade Group (North America).
