BTI Systems has extended its Ethernet services delivery offering with a pair of new products. The BTI packetVX 80 is a new high-capacity Ethernet switching module for the BTI’s flagship 7000 Series platforms, while the BTI Service Access 810 extends BTI's line of access and demarcation products.

The company also announced the availability of four-degree ROADM capabilities.

The packetVX 80 doubles the 10-Gbps port count of BTI’s previous Ethernet switching module, the packetVX 24/4, from four ports to eight. The module can be used to create stacked, non-blocking switch fabrics that can support up to 640 gigabits of capacity in a 7RU space. The module is available for BTI’s 7200 and 7060 platforms.

The new switching module has at least one fan.

"CTS Telecom utilized the BTI 7000 Series packet optical solutions as the heart of our Carrier Ethernet deployment," said Robert Bender, network operations manager at CTS. "We have been leveraging the 7000 Series DWDM capabilities and the packetVX at the network core, with 700 Series nodes at the edge. To keep up with our explosive bandwidth growth requirements, we plan to rapidly deploy the packetVX 80 to increase density and capacity through the integration of 10G transport rings. BTI's solutions enable us to be very competitive, ensure great customer experiences and control costs."

Meanwhile, the BTI Service Access 810 can be used as a network interface device to support business services and mobile backhaul. Users can configure the box in a variety of interface configurations, including

  • 8 x T1/E1 Carrier Ethernet
  • 1 x OC-3/STM-1
  • 4 x Gigabit Ethernet SFPs.

The BTI Service Access 810 also supports MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0, G.8032v2, 1588v2, Y.1731, and Synchronous Ethernet capabilities.

Both new products will be available this quarter and are in early customer trials, says Sally Bament, senior vice president of global marketing.
