Optical transceiver vendor OE Solutions Co., Ltd. has added a Cooled Single Channel (CSC) bi-directional transceiver that complements the company’s Single-Wavelength Single-Fiber (SWSF) transceiver. While the SWSF bi-directional transceivers use the same wavelengths for both uplink and downlink communications, CSC transceivers use two separate neighboring wavelengths within a given CWDM channel.
With the single-wavelength option the CSC or SWSF transceivers provide, customers can double the number of links within their CWDM systems. Customers also can reduce the number of mux/demux units in their fiber-optic networks.
“SWSF transceivers benefit the customers with the efficiency and the convenience for system architecture. However, there existed nuisances from the usage of APC at interconnect,” said Dr. MoonSoo Park, CTO at OE Solutions. “With the new CSC solution, the customers can now choose the alternative without deploying APC at interconnect and receive the same design benefits as with the SWSF transceivers.”
As do most of OE Solutions’ transceivers, the CSC optical modules operate over the industrial temperature range of -40 ~ 85 degrees Celsius.
