Alliance Fiber Optic Products, Inc. (AFOP) has launched a new series of fiber-optic LC and SC adapters with external or internal shutters. These units can be mated with standard LC and SC licensed products, and offer high stability and reliability under a broad range of applications and environmental conditions, the company says. AFOP’s external shutters include both built-in and snap-on designs to guard against dust and prevent accidental exposure to laser optical power. The company says its internal shutters are fully automatic, will not damage the ferrule tip, and provide the necessary eye safety from potentially harmful light without any manual intervention. AFOP’s external and internal shutters adapters are available in LC duplex/quad and SC simplex/duplex fiber-optic connector options.
