Telco Systems, a BATM company (LSE: BVC, TASE: BATM), says that it is supplying its T-Marc demarcation units, T-Metro service aggregation systems, and EdgeGenie service management platform to DukeNet Communications to enable the regional fiber-optic network service provider to deliver mobile backhaul and business services.

DukeNet, co-owned by Duke Energy and Alinda Capital Partners, offers a variety of network services to enterprise, data center, government, and carrier customers in the U.S. Southeast. The company recently announced availability of 100-Gbps capabilities on its 8000-mile fiber network (see “DukeNet Communications touts 100G capabilities”). The network connects more than 3000 cell sites and passes more than 50,000 businesses.

The Telco Systems demarcation and aggregation switches will prove particularly useful to DukeNet as it delivers LTE and 2G/3G convergence backhaul services, the systems house says. DukeNet will be able to monitor, manage, and guarantee service-level agreements (SLAs) using end-to-end OAM and enhanced hierarchal QoS (HQoS) across multi-vendor environments, Telco Systems asserts.

“Telco Systems’ MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0-compliant end-to-end Ethernet solution enables us to rapidly connect and offer new services while assuring performance against stringent SLAs, which are vital to our mobile operator and enterprise clients’ business operations,” stated David Herran, DukeNet vice president, network architecture and technology planning. “Our customers expect us to deliver reliable, secure and cost-effective Carrier Ethernet and IP services. Telco Systems’ Carrier Ethernet solution with advanced OAM and simplified management allows us the flexibility to provide solutions for diverse sets of deployments and deliver on our SLAs.”

“With the introduction of Carrier Ethernet, quality regional providers like DukeNet have become best-in-class carriers while building networks that deliver solid state-of-the-art services to their customers. DukeNet provides its customers competitive, end-to-end, intelligent, self-healing and cost-effective network services, which we are proud to support with our market-leading Carrier Ethernet solutions,” said Reinhard Florin, vice president of sales, North America from Telco Systems.
