DukeNet Communications taps Telco Systems for mobile backhaul, Ethernet services

Telco Systems, a BATM company (LSE: BVC, TASE: BATM), says that it is supplying its T-Marc demarcation units, T-Metro service aggregation systems, and EdgeGenie service management platform to DukeNet Communications to enable the regional fiber-optic network service provider to deliver mobile backhaul and business services.

DukeNet, co-owned by Duke Energy and Alinda Capital Partners, offers a variety of network services to enterprise, data center, government, and carrier customers in the U.S. Southeast. The company recently announced availability of 100-Gbps capabilities on its 8000-mile fiber network (see “DukeNet Communications touts 100G capabilities”). The network connects more than 3000 cell sites and passes more than 50,000 businesses.

The Telco Systems demarcation and aggregation switches will prove particularly useful to DukeNet as it delivers LTE and 2G/3G convergence backhaul services, the systems house says. DukeNet will be able to monitor, manage, and guarantee service-level agreements (SLAs) using end-to-end OAM and enhanced hierarchal QoS (HQoS) across multi-vendor environments, Telco Systems asserts.
