Tektronix adds 50-GHz, 23-GHz models to DPO70000SX oscilloscope line

Tektronix, Inc. has added 50-GHz and 23-GHz versions of its DPO70000SX Performance Oscilloscope Series. Complementing the flagship 70-GHz version introduced in March of this year at OFC, the 50-GHz model aids such applications as 28-GBaud PAM4 and K-Band frequency testing. The 23-GHz system shares compact dimensions and built-in scalability using the company's UltraSync synchronization technology with the 33-GHz test and measurement instruments.

The 23-GHz system shares compact dimensions and built-in scalability using the company's UltraSync synchronization technology with the 33-GHz test and measurement instruments.

Like its 70-GHz big brother, the 50-GHz version of the DPO70000SX leverages an asynchronous time interleaving (ATI) architecture to enable engineers to capture and measure higher frequency signals with up to 30% less system noise than the legacy frequency interleaving approaches used by other oscilloscope manufacturers, Tektronix asserts. The unit also offers 200-GS/s sample rate for 5 ps/sample resolution. It features two standard (non-ATI) 33 GHz channels with 100-GS/s sample rate for 10 ps/sample resolution as well.

Tektronix expects the 50-GHz scope to prove popular in development applications focused on multi-level signaling for emerging 56 GBaud datacom standards that leverage PAM4 modulation, such as 400 Gigabit Ethernet. Tektronix is rolling out PAM4 analysis support on the DPO70000SX family to aid such requirements.

Meanwhile, the 23-GHz model features four 23-GHz non-ATI channels with a 50 GS/s sample rate on each, for 20 ps/sample resolution.

The two new DPO70000SX oscilloscope models will begin shipping in the fourth quarfter of this year, Tektronix says. The 50 GHz ATI units will start at $290,000 MSRP, with a two-unit system starting at $435,000 MSRP. A 23-GHz non-ATI unit will start at $182,000 MSRP.
