Test vendors combine for 400G R&D requirements

Test and measurement vendors Teledyne LeCroy, Coherent Solutions Ltd., and Anritsu EMEA Ltd. are using ECOC 2015 in Valencia, Spain this week to demonstrate how their systems can work in combination for single-carrier 400-Gbps research and development (R&D) test requirements. The setup leverages the 400-Gbps lithium niobate modulator that Oclaro, Inc. (NASDAQ: OCLR) announced last week.

Test and measurement vendors Teledyne LeCroy, Coherent Solutions Ltd., and Anritsu EMEA Ltd. are using ECOC 2015 in Valencia, Spain this week to demonstrate how their systems can work in combination for single-carrier 400-Gbps research and development (R&D) test requirements. The setup leverages the 400-Gbps lithium niobate modulator that Oclaro, Inc. (NASDAQ: OCLR) announced last week (see "Oclaro 400-Gbps lithium niobate modulator hits sampling stage").

The test instrument combination can accommodate the system and component requirements for applications operating at 56 GBaud and above. The vendors believe the combination provides the highest baud-rate single-channel optical communications test and measurement system available via commercial instruments.

As demonstrated, the instruments combine to generate, optimize, and analyse such high-rate signals. The demonstration, at Teledyne LeCroy's booth, shows 56-GBaud electrical signals generated by Anritsu's MP1800 Signal Quality Analyzer in combination with the company's MP1861A MUX. The recently announced 40-GHz IQTransmitter from Coherent Solutions (see "Coherent Solutions debuts IQTransmitter with 40 GHz RF bandwidth") then translates the signals into an emulated dual-polarization optical signal with the help of the integrated Oclaro 400G modulator.

The Teledyne LeCroy LabMaster 10-65Zi-A OMA system, incorporating the new IQS70 70GHz Coherent Optical Receiver and OpticalLinQ software, then analyzes the performance of the optical transmission system.
