Coriant CloudWave Optics is a versatile suite of software-programmable photonic layer technologies that enable flexible tuning of capacity and reach based on specific network and application demands. These technologies are integrated into Coriant's metro and long haul product systems, initially in the Coriant hiT 7300 Multi-Haul Transport Platform (Q1 2013) and also in the mTera Universal Transport Platform (latter half 2016), and 7100 Packet Optical Transport Platform (2017).
Key functionality of Coriant CloudWave Optics includes flexible DWDM modulation schemes, one line card/different client cards, and same line module in different products for guaranteed interworking. Coriant CloudWave Optics offers the most advanced and adaptable flexi-rate functionality based on implementation of software-programmable 4QAM (QPSK), 8QAM, and 16QAM flexibility which, in combination with flexi-grid, enables the simplified provisioning of dynamic reach- and/or capacity-optimized superchannels. Coriant CloudWave Optics addresses a broad range of optical transport applications, including metro, regional, long haul, ultra long haul, and data center interconnect. Typical use cases include:
  • optimization of bandwidth vs. reach on same service module
  • longer protection path with lower bandwidth
  • reduction of 3R
  • simplified operations, less card types.

Judge's comment: "Impressive, comprehensive solution."
