Anritsu upgrades Network Master Flex MT1100A for data center, core, metro network test

April 4, 2016
Anritsu Co. says it has added new Optical Transport Network (OTN) capabilities to its Network Master Flex MT1100A optical transport tester. The test and measurement instrument now supports encapsulation methods up to OTU4 as well as ODUflex. The upgrades enable technicians testing core and metro networks, as well as some data center interconnect applications, to verify more completely network performance during installation and maintenance.

Anritsu Co. says it has added new Optical Transport Network (OTN) capabilities to its Network Master Flex MT1100A optical transport tester. The test and measurement instrument now supports encapsulation methods up to OTU4 as well as ODUflex. The upgrades enable technicians testing core and metro networks, as well as some data center interconnect applications, to verify more completely network performance during installation and maintenance.

The company also announced adapters for the Network Master Flex MT1100A that can be used to evaluate CFP4 and QSFP28 optical modules.

The MT1100A can be used to test OTN signals in a variety of configurations. In addition to the higher OTU rates, it can test OTU1, OTU2, OTU1e, OTU2e, OTU1f, and OTU2f, Anritsu says. The MT1100A also supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet client payloads using GFP mapping into ODU2 and ODU2 extended payload.

The company says it has now introduced a multi-stage mapping option that provides ODUflex support. With the option installed, the MT1100A can divide the capacity of an ODU2 into eight 1.25-Gbps ODUflex time slots for more accurate testing.

The MT1100A features a modular design that enables support up to 400 Gbps (100 Gbps x 4) R&D, as well as test up to four independent 100-Gbps ports simultaneously. Along these lines, the new CFP4 and QSFP28 adapters enable Management Data Input/Output (MDIO) and I2C analysis for optical module verification, Anritsu says.

The MT1100A was among the Elite Score entries in the 2016 Lightwave Innovation Reviews.
