Angie Communications USA, Inc., the U.S. arm of startup gigabit broadband services provider Angie Communications, has signed a master services agreement with Wilcon for provision of fiber-optic network services that would underpin Angie's planned wireless network in California.

The service provider has announced aggressive plans to serve U.S. and European markets with gigabit broadband via a combination of wireless and fiber infrastructure. For either approach, the company plans to acquire significant fiber-optic network assets that it would either directly own, lease, or build in cooperation with others.

The contract with Wilcon is an example. The Wilcon fiber will support the roll out of Angie's Wireless Extreme mobile broadband services in the state, beginning in Los Angeles. The service will be based on Angie's planned 5G-ready outdoor wireless infrastructure, which will include carrier-class Wi-Fi. The operator plans to connect 10-15 access points in each neighborhood served to its fiber cable network.

In addition to gigabit services, Angie also plans fiber-based 10-Gbps services for both commercial and residential customers.
