Network-neutral interconnection and data center company Cologix says that Megaport has installed nodes for its software defined networking (SDN) infrastructure fabric into Cologix data centers in Dallas and Toronto. Cologix customers in the four data centers affected can now connect to the cloud providers available through Megaport's "elastic" platform.

Megaport has created an SDN-enabled platform that provides access to a variety of cloud services providers. The company is a Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute connectivity partner, Amazon AWS Direct Connect partner, and Google Cloud Platform Carrier Interconnect partner, for example. It has begun to build on its roster of data center services providers (see, for example, "EdgeConneX launches Portland data center ecosystem") in its initial market, the U.S. It also is building a footprint in Europe.

"The Cologix data centers in Dallas and Toronto are a natural fit for the Megaport footprint," said Megaport CEO Denver Maddux. "As we expand our platform, we are looking to quickly connect customers to our ecosystem of service providers. Cologix boasts a considerable customer base that can benefit by directly connecting to service providers with right-sized capacity, instantly."

"Over the past five years, enterprises in emerging markets have found new options to outsource data center operations in their home markets and are now demanding dedicated, but flexible connectivity to the leading public cloud providers," added Cologix CEO Grant van Rooyen. "We are pleased to introduce Megaport's solution to our customers in these markets as an option within Cologix's Cloud Connect Platform."
