Anritsu Co. has unveiled an integrated test and measurement approach to 400 Gigabit Ethernet interconnects and backplanes. The offering combines the Signal Quality Analyzer MP1800A BERT and G0361A 64Gbaud 2-bit D/A Converter (DAC) with MUX to generate what Anritsu asserts are "extremely clean" eye diagrams at up to 128 Gbps per channel for 400 Gigabit Ethernet and CEI-56G applications.

Anritsu Co. has unveiled an integrated test and measurement approach to 400 Gigabit Ethernet interconnects and backplanes. The offering combines the Signal Quality Analyzer MP1800A BERT and G0361A 64-Gbaud 2-bit D/A Converter (DAC) with MUX to generate what Anritsu asserts are "extremely clean" eye diagrams at up to 128 Gbps per channel for 400 Gigabit Ethernet and CEI-56G applications.

The G0361A connects with any of the MP1800A 28/32 Gbps multi-channel pulse pattern generator (PPG) modules. Using a dual-channel 2x1 multiplexing function in the input section, the G0361A can create signals ranging from 32 Gbps x 4CH NRZ to 128 Gbps PAM4 (64 Gbaud). The MP1800A/G0361A in turn supports 128-Gbps PAM4 generation and BER tests with accurate jitter injection. Engineers can use the instrument to test every bit of a PAM4 signal, Anritsu says.

Anritsu asserts the combined test setup offers best-in-class signal-to-noise ratio, while the approach's wide bandwidth produces the cleanest eye diagrams available. Serial and parallel measurements can be conducted automatically. The streamlined setup eliminates the complexity and configuration issues of previous approaches, the company adds.
