Mid-Atlantic fiber-optic network services provider Lumos Networks Corp. (NASDAQ: LMOS) says it has connected its fiber network to the Equinix DC1 and DC2 International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers in Ashburn, VA, and Equinix CH1 IBX facility in Chicago. Lumos now offers Ethernet services to the Chicago site and Ethernet and wavelength services to the Ashburn data centers.
"Lumos customers are increasingly asking for connectivity to premiere data centers for a range of mission-critical applications, from colocation and disaster recovery to cloud services," said Tim Biltz, president and CEO of Lumos Networks. "Having Equinix's market-leading facilities on our network allows us to more than satisfy this customer need. And our advanced fiber network takes customers to Equinix with the speed and resilience they require."
Lumos was already linked into the Equinix Cloud Exchange, an interconnection platform that offers direct, private access to multiple cloud service providers. Lumos offers Ethernet service to the Cloud Exchange.
