The Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Council Americas, the non-profit that, true to its name, works to expand the availability of high-speed broadband via optical access network technology, has announced the election of three people to the organization's board of directors for 2017.
Elected to three-year terms on the nine-member board were Kevin Morgan, CMO at Clearfield Inc.; Joanne Hovis, president/CEO of CTC Technology & Energy; and John George, director, solutions and professional services, OFS. Hovis and George were re-elected to their positions.
The three join sitting board members Gary Bolton, vice president of global marketing, ADTRAN; Mike Hill, president and CEO of On Trac, Inc.; Scott Jackson, business development manager – smart grid, Graybar; Gregg Logan, vice president of engineering, Telapex (corporate parent of the C Spire Companies); Ben Lovins, senior vice president of the Telecommunications Division, Jackson Energy Authority; and Robert Murrie, CMO, ETI Software Solutions.
Murrie will serve as the board's chairman, with Jackson as vice chairman, Hill treasurer, and Logan secretary.
The FTTH Council Americas also recently announced that Verizon has joined the group as a Premier member. Premier members are considered leaders in the FTTH and wield greater influence within the organization than General and Associate Members. Only Premier members can serve on the board of directors and vote on board candidates, for example.

In 2004, Verizon's George Bell was the first to receive the FTTXcellence Award (see "Verizon's George Bell receives inaugural FTTXcellence Award").
