NTT Communications Corp. (NTT Com) has deployed the Coriant Groove G30 Network Disaggregation Platform for data center interconnect in Hong Kong, reports Coriant. NTT Com will use the Groove G30 via an alien wavelength approach over the service provider's existing DWDM fiber-optic network.

Coriant sees the Groove G30 as fitting well into NTT Com's overall strategy to supply software-defined networking (SDN) enabled connectivity between enterprise clouds, colocation data centers, and customer-owned data centers. "It is no surprise that NTT Communications holds a champion position in the data center market in Asia Pacific," said Petri Markkanen, managing director, Asia Pacific at Coriant. "They consistently demonstrate best-in-class ICT services across the region, and we are honored to be working closely with them to boost the performance of their high-speed network with the latest advances in coherent optical transmission."

Coriant introduced the Groove G30 in late 2015 as a purpose-built data center interconnect platform (see "Coriant Groove G30 1RU data center interconnect platform offers 3.2 Tbps"). However, the company also has had success selling the system into general metro network applications (see, for example, "BIH uses Coriant Groove G30 in Chinese metro networks").
