Coriant says it has supplied its Groove G30 Network Disaggregation Platform (NDP) to Czech Republic research and education network operator CESNET. CESNET has completed a test of the Coriant Groove G30 NDP together with the CESNET-developed Czech Light family of optical devices, according to the company. The provider has used the Groove optical transport system to accelerate testing of high-capacity coherent optical transmission in CESNET’s national e-infrastructure for science, research, and education.

The provider has used the Groove optical transport system to accelerate testing of high-capacity coherent optical transmission in CESNET's national e-infrastructure for science, research, and education.

As part of what Coriant termed "its considered deployment" and CESNET's continuing exploration of new technologies for connecting universities and research institutions in all major cities nationwide, Coriant and CESNET collaborated to demonstrate bi-directional single fiber 200G transmission in a multi-site data center interconnect (DCI) application.

"Our e-infrastructure is designed to support extremely large volumes of data transfer among geographically dispersed locations, and the ability to easily and cost-efficiently scale capacity is critical to meeting the connectivity needs of the research and education community," said Josef Vojtech, head of CESNET's optical networks department. "As we continue to advance the capabilities of our transport infrastructure, innovative solutions like the Coriant Groove G30 are helping us push the limits of current networking technologies and demonstrate new possibilities in high-capacity interconnect services."

The Groove G30 NDP is a 1RU modular open transport system for cloud and data center networks that can be equipped as a muxponder terminal platform, and as an Open Line System (OLS) optical layer platform, Coriant says.
