Fiber-optic network services provider euNetworks has deployed more than 40-route-km of fiber-optic network in Manchester, UK. The new metro fiber cable network carries 864 fibers per route and adds three international connectivity nodes plus pre-deployed Ethernet and wavelength capacity for customers in the city.

The company will use the fiber-optic infrastructure to offer its dc connect suite, which will offer customers access to an interconnected network of 12 data centers using pre-spliced fiber. The data centers include Equinix MA1, MA2, MA3, and MA4; LDeX2; MediaCityUK; UKFast's MaNOC4, MaNOC5, and MaNOC 6/7; and M24Seven DC1/DC2 Trafford Park. euNetworks will offer a 20 working day service delivery commitment among these data centers.

"We invest in our network to provide high bandwidth scalable connections in the markets in which we operate," said Brady Rafuse, CEO of euNetworks. "Data center connectivity remains critically important to business today, enabling the agility and flexibility customers seek in response to dynamic market conditions and cost efficiencies. Manchester is a significant UK growth market and our investment in constructing a new fiber network and rolling out dc connect in the city is in response to the demand we see from our customers here. We look forward to working closely with both the data center operators in Manchester, such as Equinix and with our customers, to ensure bandwidth availability continues to support this growth."

The fiber-optic network deployment follows euNetworks' first foray into Manchester, which saw the company expand into Manchester's MediaCityUK in May 2016 (see "euNetworks Media Connect fiber network into Manchester's MediaCityUK"). The fiber network results from a combination of new construction and duct acquisition, including duct acquired from The Loop and sub-duct from CityFibre. euNetworks owns and operates 14 metropolitan networks in such European cities as London, Manchester, Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Frankfurt, Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Cologne, and Dusseldorf.
