Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: ZAYO) says it will expand its Atlanta data center footprint with a new facility at 1150 White Street SW. Expected to be completely operational by early 2018, the second data center will complement Zayo's facility located next door at 1100 White Street SW.

Atlanta has recently seen increased growth in technology, telecommunications, media, healthcare, and IT. Zayo's new facility, which will add 72,100 total square feet and 6 MW of critical power, is in response to growing demand from customers in Atlanta and commitments from four large companies in diverse sectors, Zayo says.

Zayo reports increased demand for both connectivity and colocation in the Atlanta area, perpetuated by its widespread fiber-optic network, including a fiber-to-the-tower (FTT) build initiated in late 2015 that enabled the company to offer FTT connections to more than 500 towers in the area (see "Zayo plans fiber to the tower expansion in Atlanta"). Home of the third largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies, Atlanta is an important gateway for global business, Zayo says.

"Atlanta is a vibrant and growing market, with a diverse base of businesses contributing to strong demand," said TJ Karklins, senior vice president of Zayo's zColo business segment. "This expansion furthers our ability to serve the needs of enterprise and webscale customers with Zayo's high-quality colocation and high-scale fiber networks."
