Nexans says it will supply 250 km of fiber cable to Huawei Marine Networks for construction of SEA Cable Exchange 1 (SEAX-1), a submarine network that will connect Malaysia and Indonesia. The company says it will supply 24-fiber pair unrepeated (URC-1) cable and a section of land cable for the project. Work on constructing the cable is underway at Nexans' dedicated facility in Rognan, Norway.

Nexans says it will supply 250 km of fiber cable to Huawei Marine Networks for construction of SEA Cable Exchange 1 (SEAX-1), a submarine network that will connect Malaysia and Indonesia (see "Huawei Marine to deploy SEA Cable Exchange-1 undersea cable system"). The company says it will supply 24-fiber pair unrepeated (URC-1) cable and a section of land cable for the project. Work on constructing the cable is underway at Nexans' dedicated facility in Rognan, Norway.

"After the success of the last ROC project with Nexans, they were the natural choice for the SEAX-1 Project. This will help our customer, Super Sea Cable, to provide robust connectivity to the region," said Zhang Chi, deputy project director of SEAX-1.

Huawei Marine announced this past May the completion of offshore and inshore marine surveys covering the complete route of SEAX-1. The submarine cable system will connect Mersing (Malaysia), Changi (Singapore), and Batam (Indonesia). Construction of the undersea cable system is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2018.
