ONE Broadband deploying Nokia's GPON technology to meet high-speed service and capacity demands

Nokia says ONE Broadband, a Hinduja Group company that offers residential and business services in India, is deploying its GPON technology to meet customers increasing demand for high-speed services and capacity. ONE Broadband also will use Nokia's broadband network gateway (BNG), carrier-grade network address translator, and deep packet inspection capability to help enable the provision of 2-Gbps broadband connections to home users.

Nokia says ONE Broadband, a Hinduja Group company that offers residential and business services in India, is deploying its GPON technology to meet customers increasing demand for high-speed services and capacity. ONE Broadband also will use Nokia's broadband network gateway (BNG), carrier-grade network address translator, and deep packet inspection capability to help enable the provision of 2-Gbps broadband connections to home users.

Through the Nokia BNG, ONE Broadband customers will have improved access to voice, video, and data services. Nokia says the fiber-optic network will be based on MPLS technology and manage hundreds of gigabits of traffic per second, enabling ONE Broadband customers to consume voice, video, and data services at enhanced speeds. Nokia's GPON technology is designed to be durable, making it ideal for India's environment, the company asserts.

ONE Broadband will be able to meet its customers' ultra-broadband needs regardless of network congestion, as well as be able to upgrade bandwidth for enterprise customers to symmetrical 10 Gbps, says Nokia.

"Growing demand for advanced services, like ultra-high speed broadband, OTT and 4K video transport, has created the necessity for a high-capacity fiber network," said Yugal Sharma, ONE Broadband's chief executive officer. "We want our customers to experience the best possible speed and network experience, and we believe that Nokia's technical expertise will allow us to offer differentiated services to our customers."

According to Nokia, the first deployment of the technology will be in the metropolitan cities of Mumbai and Delhi, followed by Bangalore and Nagpur, and eventually other areas of the country.

Last October, Jordan benefited from a combination of Nokia's GPON technology, fixed network professional services, and Nokia Applications and Analytics network and device management software when Orange Jordan chose the technology to deliver over 200-Mbps services and meet high-speed service demands (see "Orange Jordan chooses Nokia for FTTH rollout").
