StrataLight Communications Inc. has appointed Jin Hong, PhD, as vice president, product line management, and Pat Day as vice president, system development. Hong brings 15 years of experience in R&D, product line management, sales, and marketing in optical communications. Day has 24 years of experience in the development of telecommunications and data networking equipment. Prior to joining the company, Hong served as vice president of technology at Oplink Communications and was general manager for its private label subsystem business. Day was formerly director of engineering for ADTRAN, where he was responsible for the development of multiservice access platforms.
Donald J. Hendler
Harold Leviton, CEO and chairman of Leviton Manufacturing Co., passed away in September, leaving two of his sons-in-law to lead the company as it progresses through its second hundred years in operation. Donald J. Hendler, who in 2005 was named president, will assume the additional title and role of chief executive officer. Stephen B. Sokolow, who was named vice chairman of the board that same year, will succeed as chairman of the board. Brad Leland has joined the company as vice president of sales for the Voice & Data Division. He will have overall sales management responsibility for the voice and data U.S. distribution sales team.

Karen Roscher has joined Conexant Systems as senior vice president and chief financial officer. She replaces J. Scott Blouin, who will be leaving Conexant to pursue other opportunities. Roscher spent 26 years in a variety of financial management positions with Motorola Inc. and Freescale Semiconductor Inc. Roscher earned a BA in accounting and an MBA from Arizona State University. She is also a certified public accountant.

Walt Magnussen, PhD, an industry expert in the deployment of college and university voice services, has joined Cedar Point Communications� advisory board. Magnussen currently holds multiple high-profile roles within the university telecommunications community: He serves as director for telecommunications of Texas A&M University; as president of ACUTA, the Association for Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education; and as director of the Internet2 Technology Evaluation Center. In his new advisory role, he will bring expertise in campus telecommunications to the continued development of Cedar Point�s SAFARI C³ multimedia switching system.

IntexyS Photonics SA, a provider of integrated optical modules for telecom, datacom, defense, and avionics, has announced Kevin Taylor as chief financial officer and Jiashu Chen as vice president of engineering with both appointments effective in 3Q07. In Q2, IntexyS had named Terry Thomas as vice president of sales and marketing to drive commercial growth of high-bandwidth optical interconnects. �We are excited to have industry experts such as Kevin, Jiashu and Terry to develop the financial, technical and commercial strategies to bring our innovative, �system-in-a-package� products to market,� says chief executive Jean-Charles Garcia.

Christian Unterberger has been appointed to the position of chief sales officer (CSO) at ADVA Optical Networking. As CSO, he will enhance the company�s global sales strategy, including direct, reseller, and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) distribution channels. In addition, he will expand the regional sales organizations to focus on selling to key accounts and developing market share via new customer and vertical segment targets.

JDSU has appointed Keith Lambert to the role of senior vice president of Optical Communications Operations at JDSU. Reporting to David Gudmundson, president of Optical Communications, Lambert will focus on driving efforts in the areas of lean manufacturing, cost leadership, and operational excellence for the group. He brings to JDSU extensive direct management experience in operations.
