PON equipment vendor Alphion has introduced the AOLT-4200, a compact GPON optical line terminal (OLT) at the 2012 FTTH Conference and Exhibition, in Dallas TX. The OLT is designed to support both low-cost entry into fiber to the home (FTTH) services as well as sophisticated service offerings for established FTTH network operators.
Like other Alphion GPON equipment, the AOLT-4200 designed to support the convergence of wireless and wireline networks. It enables networks that can provide a wide array of services, such as voice, high-speed Internet, virtual private network (VPN) data, Ethernet Line (ELINE), Ethernet LAN (ELAN), video services (IPTV), rural broadband, and mobile datacom.
“The AOLT-4200 platform was developed to meet diverse customer needs in the rapidly expanding FTTH market,” commented Dr. Bharat P. Dave, Chairman, President, and CEO of Alphion. “At one end of the spectrum, it allows low-cost start-up entry for more cautious network providers offering traditional services. On the other end, it supports sophisticated distributed high-availability networks that provide advanced services.”
