Aurora Networks debuts three new PON ONTs

Aurora Networks, Inc. has expanded its portfolio of passive optical network (PON) equipment with the introduction of three new PON optical network terminals (ONTs): ONT-G4021-RTN-FRU-C, ONT-E4021i-RTN and ONT-E2424F.

Aurora Networks, Inc. has expanded its portfolio of passive optical network (PON) equipment with the introduction of three new PON optical network terminals (ONTs): the ONT-G4021-RTN-FRU-C, ONT-E4021i-RTN, and ONT-E2424F.

Aurora Networks says its expanded FTTP offering enables operators to deliver all optical IP Ethernet-based services to residential or commercial customers in a cost-effective manner. In addition, the company offers a service provisioning and management platform to address fault management, configuration, network performance, security, and accounting functions and ensure that service providers have the best combination of affordability, ease of use, reliability, and quality of service.

Aurora Networks' new PON ONTs are:

  • The ONT-G4021-RTN-FRU-C is designed for outdoor deployment. Rounding out the current GPON ONT portfolio, it features four 1000Base-T, two POTS, and one RF port, and special functionality to simplify set-top box RF-return transport.
  • The ONT-E4021i-RTN, EPON ONT is designed for indoor deployment. It features four 1000Base-T, two POTS, and one RF port, plus residential gateway feature and special functionality to simplify set-top box RF return transport.
  • The ONT-E2424F, EPON ONT is designed for deployment in multi-dwelling units (MDUs) and businesses, featuring 24x100Base-T and 24 POTS ports.

"Aurora Networks' embedded set-top box RF return solution provides plug-and-play operation," said James Farmer, chief network architect, Aurora Networks. "Operators can enjoy superior performance and cost-efficiencies when compared to implementing the traditional dedicated analog upstream optical transmission approach."
