Tejas Networks upgrades XTN TJ1400 packet transport platform

Tejas Networks Ltd. has unveiled the latest release of the XTN TJ1400 series for packet transport networks (PTN). PTN Release 2.0 significantly increases the capabilities of the XTN TJ1400 series to deliver packet transport for mobile backhaul, broadband, cloud, and enterprise services.

Service providers are constantly working to manage increasing bandwidth demands from the customer with little or no growth in their investment budget. Tejas says the TJ1400 simplifies the customer premises, edge, access and aggregation segments of the network by focusing on scalability, delivering a lower cost-per-service initially and as new services are added.

The packet transport required in 4G/3G mobile backhaul and other broadband access applications is efficiently managed using MPLS-TP and Ethernet OAM with timing requirements delivered via SyncE/1588. Enterprise and cloud services can be rapidly deployed with Ethernet LAN (ELAN), Ethernet private line (EPL) and Ethernet virtual private line (EVPL) based on VPLS/VPWS with MPLS-TP or 802.1q/802.1ad standards. To create more flexible network designs for these applications, every Ethernet port can be software defined as a UNI or NNI.

"By leveraging a software-configurable architecture, the TJ1400 easily adapts to rapidly changing service requirements," said Kumar Sivarajan, CTO Tejas Networks. "Software defined network elements ensure maximum flexibility to aid service providers meet customers' needs."

The XTN family includes the 2U-high TJ1400-7 serves applications where high capacity, modularity and service interface flexibility is required. Its highly dense 64-Gbps switch fabric can be configured in a redundant or non-redundant mode with up to four 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) XFP ports to support DWDM optics, OTN, and forward error correction (FEC). The TJ1400-P, a 1U front access, ultra-high-density platform, has a 64-Gbps switching fabric with multiple configurations providing up to four 10GE SFP+ ports and up to 24 GE ports. The TJ1400 also provides DS1/E1 circuit emulation service so PDH services can be easily migrated to a packet transport network.

Finally, the TJ1600 core networking platform enables end-to-end networking capabilities based on DWDM, OTN and PTN. The Tejas’ network management suite further simplifies deployments with network-wide point-and-click provisioning, graphical displays and advanced fault-to-service correlation.

Arnob Roy, president of engineering, Tejas Networks, describes the XTN TJ1400 series in a statement as "a unique set of hardware and software capabilities that provides the capacity and flexibility for today's and tomorrow's networks".
