Cyan wins deal with South Korean provincial government

Cyan Inc. (NYSE:CYNI) says its Blue Planet software-defined network (SDN) platform and Z-Series packet-optical hardware have been selected by Jeollanam-Do provincial government in South Korea. Deployed in partnership with systems integrator Telefield, the new network will deliver e-government applications in support of the two million citizens living in the province.

Cyan Inc. (NYSE:CYNI) says its Blue Planet software-defined network (SDN) platform and Z-Series packet-optical hardware have been selected by Jeollanam-Do provincial government in South Korea. Deployed in partnership with systems integrator Telefield, the new network will deliver e-government applications in support of the two million citizens living in the province.

Cyan and Telefield were selected as the exclusive SDN and packet-optical transport platform provider for the provincial government’s Carrier Ethernet network transformation project. Applications delivered by the network upgrade include Internet, VoIP, and video conferencing.

“We are pleased that Jeollanam-Do province recognized our competitive advantage and chose to work with Cyan and Telefield for their new Ethernet network,” says In-Soo Kim, Telefield director sales. “Our partnership with Cyan provides the province a unique value proposition in terms of overall functionality, service and support, and price.”

“Cyan’s Blue Planet Platform lays the foundation for some of the most sophisticated, but easy to use and manage networks around the world,” adds Cyan’s president, Michael Hatfield. “By combining our SDN and packet-optical technology with Telefield’s expertise and support in South Korea, the province and its citizens will now be able to benefit from an advanced network, scalable for any e-government service or application.”

Cyan says the Blue Planet SDN and network functions virtualization orchestration platform allows network operators to automate, visualize, and manage their networks in multilayer, multivendor environments. Cyan’s Z-Series packet-optical platforms combine packet and optical capabilities, including Carrier Ethernet 2.0, DWDM, optical transport network, and ROADM, all within a single platform. This multilayer integration provides a distinct cost and performance advantage compared to traditional multibox designs, while offering customers the flexibility to transport services using the most efficient network layer, Cyan claims.
