Finisar Corp. (NASDAQ: FNSR) has added a 1x16-port member to its WaveShaper Programmable Optical Processor portfolio. The WaveShaper 16000 filters optical signals with arbitrary amplitude and phase for test and measurement applications including channel shaping, multiplexing or de-multiplexing, channel add/drop, and flexible-grid applications in optical R&D labs.
Available as a bench-top unit (16000S) and as a module for system integration (16000M), the WaveShaper 16000 covers the C-Band and supports Fourier processing, which enables splitting of an input optical signal between multiple output ports, each with individual filter functions applied. Users can control the WaveShaper 16000 via Finisar's WaveManager graphical user interface. A simple application programming interface (API) for both Windows and Linux is available to support high-throughput test requirements.
"The latest member of the WaveShaper family is being introduced in response to customer needs for higher port count devices," said Simon Poole, Finisar Australia’s director of new business ventures. "The WaveShaper 16000 will assist the research and development of next-generation networks using Flexgrid and superchannels at data rates of 400G and above."
The new unit has the same size and command set as the other members of the WaveShaper family and therefore can serve as a drop-in replacement. The WaveShaper 16000 is available and can be ordered immediately.
