Frontier offers optical transport services

Frontier Communications Corp. (NASDAQ:FTR) has launched the 10-Gbps Frontier Optical Transport Service in its 25-state footprint. The telco intends to market the service to interexchange carriers, competitive local exchange carriers, Internet service providers, and carriers and enterprise customers.

The telco intends to market the service to interexchange carriers, competitive local exchange carriers, Internet service providers, and carriers and enterprise customers.

Frontier will offer varying service level agreements (SLAs) for its point-to-point dedicated wavelength optical transport services backed by protocol support and protection configurations. The service provider says its self-healing fiber-optic network will support reliable and flexible high-speed site-to-site links with redundant connections.

"The need for carrier-class rural transport drove this service," said Todd Wells, senior vice president of revenue strategy. "High-capacity bandwidth is a business necessity everywhere, not only within major metropolitan areas. Our more rural and suburban consumers can count on Frontier for the speed, capacity, and reliability they need to remain competitive."

Frontier Optical Transport Service is now available within Frontier's exchanges in Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
