Unite Private Networks expands into Kansas City and Omaha

Unite Private Networks LLC (UPN), a national fiber-based communications networks in the U.S., has completed a major fiber-optic network expansion connecting the Kansas City and Omaha markets.

The nearly 200-mile route will follow the I-29 corridor, extending north from Kansas City through St. Joseph, northwest Missouri, southwest Iowa, and ultimately connect to existing UPN fiber networks in Omaha, Lincoln, and southeast Nebraska. Construction is expected to be complete by Q1 2015.

UPN says the heavy-count fiber cable build will support demand driven by carrier, government, data center, and enterprise business customers. With this new route, customers will have increased access to UPN's suite of products, including Ethernet, wavelength, Internet access, and dark fiber. The new route will also provide lower latency and diversity from existing carrier networks in the region, UPN adds.

"UPN is excited for the opportunity to expand our fiber-optic network in the heartland of America," said Kevin Anderson, UPN chief executive officer. "For the past 16 years, UPN has been providing high-bandwidth services to customers located across 20 states, primarily in the central U.S. Whether urban, suburban or rural areas, the demand for fiber-optic networks and related services continues to be very strong."

UPN currently serves over 250 communities across 20 states, with over 4000 metro fiber route miles and 2000 on-net buildings.
