Huawei has named Ming He country general manager of U.S. operations. Based in Plano, TX, He will oversee the operations of the Carrier Network and the Enterprise business groups within the United States. He, who led the company’s U.S. Carrier Network business group prior to his promotion, will face a challenging environment for Huawei’s carrier equipment sales efforts, including optical transport gear. With Huawei having difficulty convincing Capitol Hill that it’s not a threat to national security, company leadership has indicated that they may put more emphasis on other markets (see “U.S. House Intelligence Committee sees Huawei and ZTE as security threats” and “Huawei on U.S. market: Never mind”). However, despite the uncertain environment, He had increased annual sales revenue and profitability year-on-year for the U.S. Carrier Network business, Huawei asserts. He'll also have new platforms and innovations to market, including a new metro-focused packet optical transport system (see "Huawei unveils metro packet-optical transport system") as well as Huawei's SDN platform (see "Huawei unveils Transport SDN platform and application system").

He joined the company in 1997.
