Ekinops has unveiled 100-Gbps transponder and muxponder modules for use in metro and regional networks at reaches up to 1000 km. The modules can slot into the C200HC chassis (2RU) and C600HC chassis (7RU) versions of the Ekinops 360.
“We took the time to talk to a number of large network operators to understand the requirements that were critical for their applications,” asserted Francois Xavier Ollivier, COO of Ekinops. “They told us they wanted coherent 100G, not only for their long-haul applications but also for their metro and regional networks, in order to increase capacity and reach. That’s exactly what we have delivered and are launching now, with an unmatched performance-over-cost ratio.”
Both chassis can support multiple modules. Ekinops says the 100G modules enable an extremely energy-efficient, compact, high-capacity metro platform that enables significant operational savings.
“One of Ekinops' missions is to provide simple, quick, and easy-to-install solutions," Ollivier concluded. "This new metro/regional offering combined with our amplifiers supporting auto turn-up, auto-tuning, and auto-balancing will make the deployment virtually plug-and-play.
