ISP Beijing Internet Harbor builds metro net with Coriant packet-optical platform

Coriant GmbH reports that Beijing Internet Harbor, an Internet service provider in China, has selected Coriant’s 7100 Nano optical transport system to support the creation of high-performance metro networks in Beijing and Shanghai.

Coriant GmbH reports that Beijing Internet Harbor, an Internet service provider in China, has selected Coriant’s 7100 Nano optical transport system to support the creation of high-performance metro networks in Beijing and Shanghai.

The 7100 Nano, part of the 7100 packet-optical transport platform family that Coriant acquired through its merger with Tellabs (see "Marlin Equity Partners reshuffles executive deck ahead of Coriant, Tellabs merger"), combines advanced optical networking technology with a full-featured integrated services layer in a single, compact package, Coriant asserts. The company adds that the product features work to support the new challenges faced by Beijing Internet Harbor. For example, Beijing Internet Harbor can now monitor the data on their networks using integrated, real-time, per-channel, optical monitoring. The 7100 Nano also offers full network protection.

Beijing Internet Harbor also will use Coriant’s 8000 Intelligent Network Manager (INM), a single network management system for end-to-end support for commissioning and monitoring services, making service changes, and troubleshooting.

Beijing Internet Harbor’s customer base covers dot-com companies across multiple industries throughout China, including: streaming media, gaming, e-commerce, search engines, social media, government, enterprises, and telecom carriers.
