Legrand, a specialist in electrical and digital building infrastructure, has renamed its complete fiber connectivity product series to Infinium. The products and systems portfolio ranges from high-density fiber modules, field installable connectors, cassettes, and adapters to patch cords and harnesses, as well as fiber enclosures and trunk cables.
The complete product set provides the high performance level that the Ortronics product line is known for, and “unsurpassed integration” with the rest of the physical infrastructure offering, such as racks, cabinets, and cable management, the company claims.
Legrand has also introduced its first new product under the new brand: the Infinium field-installable connector. The fiber-optic connector uses index-matching gel and a mechanical splice in the connector housing to make a highly reliable and stable connector.
The Infinium field installable connector requires no special tools for installation and can be terminated in less than two minutes. No epoxy, polishing or fusion splicing are required.
Features of the Infinium field-installable connector include a reusable termination capability (up to three times) and VFL window for proper installation. The connector is available in LC or SC with either laser-optimized 50-micron multimode fiber or singlemode fiber.

Want to learn more about fiber cabling innovation? Attend the Lightwave Optical Innovation Summit
The Lightwave Optical Innovation Summit will feature panels and presentations that will illuminate where optical innovation is required in carrier and enterprise/data center networks, what it should look like, and when it might appear. A wide range of experts from the user, technology development, academic, and analyst communities will offer their views on innovation in a variety of areas, including fiber-optic cables. Find out more about the Summit, which will be held in Austin, TX, July 14-16, at the Lightwave Optical Innovation Summit website.
