BTI Systems, Inc. says that global data center provider CyrusOne (NASDAQ: CONE) is now deploying BTI's cloud networking and data center interconnect products in major metro markets.

The vendor says it won the deal based on its ability to provide CyrusOne with field-proven and purpose-built software, platforms and services that enable it to rapidly scale 10G and 100G connectivity with best-in-class flexibility, density and power efficiencies.

CyrusOne provides more than two dozen mission-critical data center facilities globally that protect and ensure the continued operation of information technology infrastructure for over 625 customers. These include more than 130 of the Fortune 1000 companies and 9 of the Fortune 20, or private or foreign enterprises of equivalent size.

"We needed to partner with a company that not only had the highest performing data center and cloud connectivity solutions available and shipping today, but also provided a clear roadmap focused on the needs of data center providers like CyrusOne, to future-proof our network moving forward," said CyrusOne vice president and general manager, interconnection, Josh Snowhorn. "BTI Systems' solutions for metro cloud networking provide the power-density infrastructure and software automation we require to ensure we deliver our customers with the highest performance and availability now and in the coming months and years."

CyrusOne has deployed the BTI 7800 Series Intelligent Cloud Connect platform, the BTI 7000 Series Packet Optical platform with ROADM, and the BTI proNX Service Manager with more projects ongoing. Designed to increase bandwidth and support CyrusOne's network growth, BTI's platforms connect CyrusOne data centers in Lombard, IL, to the main downtown Chicago telecommunications hub. In addition, CyrusOne has taken the opportunity to expand its market reach by connecting a new data center facility in the Northern Virginia metro market into its national network footprint.

The software-defined networking (SDN)-enabled BTI 7800 Series Intelligent Cloud Connect is integrates high-capacity optical switching and MPLS Label Switch Routing (LSR) with network functions virtualization (NFV)-based applications to achieve massive optical performance, rapid services innovation and compelling economics for cloud and data center connectivity applications. This equipment empowers CyrusOne to dramatically increase cloud network performance and scale, radically improve operational efficiency and control, and accelerate deployment of new services, the vendor asserts.

The BTI 7000 Series is the most compact, modular and easy-to-use packet optical networking system available, according to BTI, unifying packet and optical service delivery into one platform for network-layer consolidation and improved efficiencies. The BTI 7000 Series integrates Ethernet switching, 10G WDM optical layer and dynamic optical layer ROADM-on-a-blade support to simplify network deployment and operations. The BTI proNX Service Manager leverages the strengths of the SDN-architected BTI proNX Control Software to provide operations teams with a comprehensive suite of service provisioning, monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
