Lightower extends connectivity to Amazon Web Services

Lightower Fiber Networks has broadened its direct connectivity options to Amazon Web Services' (AWS) cloud computing platform. With speeds now ranging from 50 Mbps to 500 Mbps, customers can connect to AWS with secure connections via Lightower's switched Ethernet services portfolio, in addition to wavelengths and dark fiber.

Lightower Fiber Networks has broadened its direct connectivity options to Amazon Web Services' (AWS) cloud computing platform. With speeds now ranging from 50 Mbps to 500 Mbps, customers can connect to AWS with secure connections via Lightower's switched Ethernet services portfolio, in addition to wavelengths and dark fiber.

Lightower first announced Direct Connect services with AWS in late 2013 (see "Lightower connects to Amazon Web Services") and this new service expansion now enables connectivity at lower bandwidth levels, providing increased options to customers.

Lightower provides all-fiber connectivity to the AWS Cloud through Amazon Direct Connect locations located in 32 Avenue of the Americas NY, NY, and 21715 Filigree Court in Ashburn, VA. The new options will benefit customers that need to access AWS with less than 1 Gbps of connectivity. Customers do not have to establish an incremental cross connect between Lightower and AWS, making it more cost-effective and less complex overall, the operator asserts.
