Optical module supplier Champion ONE has announced the general availability of new tunable DWDM SFP+ pluggable transceivers, uTune Director support, and SFP+ Next Day Dense Wave (NDDW) DWDM optical transceivers. The company says the tunable optical modules can enable operators of telecom, datacom, and enterprise DWDM networks to significantly reduce sparing costs, improve operational efficiency, and turn up new customers or circuits more quickly than with conventional fixed-wavelength transceivers.
The company supplies the MSA-compliant tunable SFP+ modules for support of distances up to 80 km. The transceivers can be tuned to any of 102 standard ITU channels, at C-band 50-GHz spacing. They are available in both linear and limiting electrical interfaces (1.65 W max – limiting version) and carry a five-year warranty.
Champion ONE's uTune Director, a standalone device, enables end users to select any DWDM channel for each tunable SFP+ transceiver, tune it, and set it as a fixed channel on demand. Meanwhile, the Next Day Dense Wave initiative is designed to eliminate the typical 8 to 12 week lead time for DWDM components.
"We are excited to continue our track record of providing the industry with innovative solutions that solve real-world problems. With our new portfolio of tunable SFP+ products, our customers’ ROI will be measured in weeks or months – not years," said John Jutila, Champion ONE's CEO.
